“Landschaften” [Landscapes], 1904 - 1908, mixed lot of 5 linocuts in colour on different papers, monogrammed ESt. (1 with printed monogram), with original mounts, the mounts signed and dated on the reverse and with Christmas and New Year’s wishes, image size between 14 x 13 cm and 14.6 x 14.4 cm, partly slightly browned, (5), (RAC)
The 5 linocuts used as Christmas cards are signed on the back of the mount by Ernst Stöhr, his wife Fritzi (Friederike) Stöhr and Gusty von Loos. Other examples of the two cards from 1906 and 1907 are illustrated in Natter/Hollein/Schröder (eds), Art for All, The Colour Woodcut in Vienna around 1900, Cologne 2016, pp. 321 and 334, each dated ‘c. 1905/06’. The card from 1907 is also illustrated in a colour variant in Pabst, Wiener Grafik um 1900, Munich 1984, ill. 136, p. 130. There dated ‘c. 1906’ and described by Pabst as a monotype.
