Provenance:
Collection Gaston Ritter von Mallmann (1860-1917), Berlin; his estate sale, Lepke, Berlin, 13th June 1917, lot 223; private collection Austria.

A drawing of the same church and with the same inscription “P. Saenredam fecit” is preserved in the Kupferstichkabinett Berlin (14,2 x 19,4 cm, Inv. 5705). See: Elfried Bock, Jakob Rosenberg: Die niederländischen Meister. Beschreibendes Verzeichnis sämtlicher Zeichnungen, Vol. II, Berlin 1930, p. 188. The drawing was erroneously listed as an original, which was corrected in a review by Frits Lugt in the Berliner Jahrbuch in 1931.
