The present drawing is presumably a preliminary study for the engraving „Council of Gods“ by Zoboli, which illustrated the second act of Alessandro Tassonis epic poem „La Secchia Rapita“ (The stolen bucket). A richly illustrated edition of the work appeared in Modena in 1744 and was edited by Bartolomeo Soliani. For the illustration of the engraving see: P.
