A rare crystal glass chandelier, Model No. 3241, designed by Eduard Josef Wimmer-Wisgrill,
c. 1930, for J. & L. Lobmeyr, Vienna, plain construction of two cut crystal glass plates, metal mount and shaft, fitted for three lights, height approx. 50 cm, diameter approx. 50 cm. (MHA)
This model was part of the lighting of the so-called room “For Two” by Eduard Josef Wimmer-Wisgrill in the exhibition of Viennese interior decorators at the Austrian Museum of Art and Industry in 1929/30 and in Paris in 1937. Between 1901 and 1907, Eduard Josef Wimmer-Wisgrill studied at the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts under Josef Hoffmann and Alfred Roller. In 1907 he founded the Wiener Werkstätte’s Fashion Department, which he headed from 1910 to 1922. He also participated in the important Austrian Werkbund exhibition in Vienna in 1930.
