In 1976, Alessandro and Adriana Guerriero founded Alchimia in Milan. In 1978 and 1979, they presented works by designers such as Alessandro Mendini, Ettore Sottsass, Bruno and Giorgio Gregori, Michele De Lucchi, Andrea Branzi, UFO, Paola Navone, Daniela Puppa, Franco Raggi. Laminated plastic is the predominant decorative material. Alchimia’s formal language and philosophy contrasted with the norms of traditional Italian design and changed the basis of all previous design theories, leading to a profound and radical change in the way contemporary design is perceived. Alessandro Guerriero became a founding member of Domus Academy in 1982 and founded Nuova Alchimia under the brand Zabro in 1984.
