A Carpet / Large Kilim, after Paul Klee, - Design

modern production by Prugse, high quality, hand-knotted kilim in diverse colours, manufactured in wool and silk with natural colours. Marked with manufacturer’s signature. Dimensions c. 300 cm x 222 cm. (MHA)

From a small-scale series.

Polychrome design after a drawing by Paul Klee.

About the image: Paul Klee is one of the founding fathers of Surrealism and is famous for his choice of colours and painting style. Carpet making is one of the oldest art forms and dates back more than 2,000 years. Prugse (Persian Rug Special Edition) is a company specialising in the production of high-quality kilims. Kilims are a good choice to preserve the integrity of art, for they are simple in technique and appearance, yet their art is very complex. The aim was therefore to find a technique for creating complex patterns on a kilim. After almost 2 years of research, an appropriate technique was eventually found. The carpet was handmade. Its production takes approximately 7 months.
