Young lady at the piano, c. 1910, vintage photograph, silver bromide, signed with sepia ink, with contemporary retouchings, laid down on cardboard, 81.5 x 57.5 cm, framed. Little is known about Uher’s training. At the turn of the century, he already owned one of the most modern photo studios in Budapest. Thanks to his artistic, sophisticated work he was regarded as one of the most sought-after photographers in Hungary. In 1911-1912, he undertook study trips to Denmark and Germany to become familiar with film techniques and methods. Uher returned to Hungary in 1912, founding the ‘Uher Filmgyar’ film factory. He documented the coronation of Charles in Budapest and was awarded the title of court photographer. He became one the most important personalities of the silent movie era in Hungary.
