Die Unendlichkeit läßt sich nur fühlen, indem ich über das Geschlossene, den Rahmen hinausschlage, hinausgelange. Jede Unendlichkeit die in sich selbst unendlich ist, ist nicht unendlich, auch ist sie vorstellbar und logisch sobald ich mit „Veränderung“ operiere. Ich verachte das Meditative in der Malerei, da ich dabei nur von einem bestimmten Standort ausgehen kann, das „ich“ oder das „überhaupt nicht“. Ich suche die Standortsveränderung, das Relative, nicht die Moral an sich, sondern die Moral der Tat. Man muß von allen Seiten mein Bild verlassen können, das dann sich fortsetzt wie ein angeschlagener Ton. …

I can only feel infinity, if I break out and reach beyond the closed composition and the frame. Every infinite space that is in itself infinite is not infinite; it is also imaginable and logical, as soon as I introduce “change”. I despise the meditative element in painting because that means that I can only start from a fixed viewpoint, the “ego” or that which is “not at all”. I am looking for a change of viewpoint, that which is relative, not morality as such, but the morality of the deed. One must be able to enter my pictures from all sides and be able to leave it from all sides; the picture then continues like a tone that has been struck.
