Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858)

Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858) - Asiatics, Works of Art and furniture

Ukechi Akiba no keidai (Inside Akiba Shrine at Ukeji), sheet 91, from the series: "Meisho Edo hyakkei" (100 Famous Views of Edo), nishiki-e, signed Hiroshige ga, publisher Uoya Eikichi, dated 1857 (Ansei 4, month 8), censor seal, aratame, snake 8, later print, the white spots of light on the red foliage are omitted, the blue of the water partly shines through, the light brown shadows in the water are slightly flat, otherwise the present sheet corresponds to the one from the MET, New York, Acc. no. The sheet displays almost full margins, the lower margin is slightly trimmed, the upper corners on the back have been glued, minimally stained, 35.8 x 24.8 cm, mounted, (CT)
