1956 Wurlitzer 1900 "Centennial"

1956 Wurlitzer 1900 "Centennial" - Wurlitzer & Co

The carousel system made way for Wurlitzer’s return to a market leading position. While the 1955 1800 model was able to further expand sales, Seeburg fought back with a new model offering a selection of 200 songs, quite the statement in the race for audience’s favor. Wurlitzer needed to strike back and the company’s 100 year anniversary in 1956 was the perfect occasion to do so. Wurlitzer presented two new models for that year, the 1900 and the 2000, that ware named Centennial accordingly.

The 1900 was the successor of the previous year’s 1800, offering a selection of 104 songs. The design was thoroughly updated, straight and clear, and to this day is one of the most beautiful designs in jukebox history.

Wurlitzer sold around 12,500 jukeboxes of the 1900 model, less than of its predecessor, but then it faced inhouse competition by the Wurlitzer 2000.

This example has been converted to 220V in the past and still presents itself in very good, cosmetically largely unrestored condition. However, we have not tried if it works and therefore it will be strictly sold as is, without any guarantee for functionality.
