Lot No. 12 V

1956 Seeburg VL-200-D

1956 Seeburg VL-200-D - Wurlitzer & Co

In 1955 Seeburg set a new benchmark in the jukebox world. For the first time a Seeburg model offered a selection of 200 songs. The V-200 could play 100 record on both sides. It was succeeded by the VL-200 the following year, which was also available in a fancier DeLuxe-Version, that carried a capital D behind its model number.

With the new model Seeburg was able to further extend their market leadership. Within two years almost 25,000 of these 200-selection jukeboxes were sold, despite their hefty price tag of around $1,200.

This Seeburg model came into Austria already in 1956. It was imported by Salzburg based distributor A. Gvozdich and served for many years in Zell am See. To this day a small tag tells us about its all-Austrian provenance, which is quite rare as not many Seeburgs were inported into this country.

On top of its rarity thanks to its Austrian provenance this expample still presents itself in largely unrestored condition. It hasn’t seen any use in quite a while and will require work. Like with all other jukeboxes, we have not tried if it works and therefore it will be strictly sold as is, without any guarantee for functionality.
