We are grateful to Peter van den Brink for suggesting the attribution of the present painting to the ‘Master of the Antwerp Adoration’ (a group of stylistically related works, sometimes identified as by Cornelis Engebrechtsz.), after inspection of the original.
The initial oeuvre of the Master of the Antwerp Adoration was assembled by Friedländer in 1915, centred around the Triptych of the Adoration of the Magi in the Museum voor Schone Kunsten in Antwerp.
