Lot No. 375 -

Anselm Reyle *

(born in Tuebingen, Germany in 1970)
Untitled, 2004, signed, dated on the reverse side A. Reyle 2004, wagon wheel, neon color on iron wheel rim, diameter: 90 cm

Provenance:
Galerie Giti Nourbakhsch, Berlin

“I started with wagon wheels in my series of farm objects. That was at the end of my studies. I studied painting but I always really struggled with it somehow. I saw that I’m more an artist who is inspired by what I see instead of looking inside myself. And then I started to work with things I found. [...] Later, I took wagon wheels which are also traditionally used in home decor. It’s a very archaic shape and it’s how our technical civilization began. And I also like this very strong shape. I started to change them very easily by adding neon colours. [...] And then something happens which I think is art but which you can’t logically describe. And that I think was a key moment for everything I did later on.”
