Private Collection, Italy.

Giovanni Sottocornola enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brera in 1875, where he studied under Giuseppe Bertini. He befriended the Divisionist artists Gaetano Previati and Emilio Longoni. In the 1890s he embraced Divisionist techniques, focusing mainly on social themes. At the turn of the century, he moved towards more intimate pictures, portraits and landscapes. He also used Divisionist techniques when working with pastels to create intimate subjects.

This work is being offered for sale from an offsite location and is not in Dorotheum, Vienna. The confirmation for the export permission is still pending.
