THIS LOT IS PART OF THE RIMPAU-LANGENSTEIN COLLECTION
(please click for further information)
Provenance:
Collection of the Rimpau family, Langenstein Castle
This scene with animals and a hunter is a characteristic example associated with Paul de Vos and his workshop. A specialist in animal and hunting scenes on a large scale, his works were much in demand amongst the aristocracy, not least for his signature usage of animals in wild movement.
A similar composition by the artist in collaboration with Jan Wildens was sold in these rooms (see sale, Dorotheum, Vienna, 21 April 2015, lot 72).
