Lot No. 20 +

A prototype of the rare “Gradient Fauteuil” lounge chair, designed by Philipp Aduatz

2021, manufactured by Philipp Aduatz in collaboration with incremental3d 2021, 3D-printed, dyed concrete reinforced with steel, blue and white design. Dimensions: height c. 102 cm, width c. 108 cm, depth c. 95 cm. Slight signs of age and traces of use. (MHA)

From the limited edition of 8 examples plus 2 épreuves d’artiste.

Prototype.

Its sculptural design is achieved by means of an innovative, digital production technology. This makes it possible to print extremely detailed concrete geometries in 3D within a very short period of time. The aim is to use the technology developed by incremental3d for a complex free-form design by Philipp Aduatz and thus to demonstrate new possibilities in the creation of complex shapes applied to furniture design. 3D concrete printing is a new and innovative manufacturing technology that makes it possible to print very large, complex structures in construction and design within a short time while taking ecological and economic aspects into account. The strategy is to apply the concrete colour directly into the nozzle during the printing process, thus reducing labour, waste and time delays. This enables a coloured design in the concrete that is applied locally point by point and not globally, as was only possible in the past. In image processing, the colour gradient of an image is one of the fundamental building blocks.

«For many years I have been obsessed with the concept of a colour gradient. To me, it reflects elegance and harmony. I believe that the colour gradient is a fundamental design principle in relation to the perception of the environment and its digital reflection. It has a mathematical aesthetic and precision that I have always admired. With this project, I want to combine the design of the colour gradient with various functional aspects through the use of innovative manufacturing technologies.” (Philipp Aduatz, 2021)

With original certificate.
