Rudolf Ernst - vendere e comprare opere

14 February 1854, Vienna (Austria) - 1932 Fontenay-aux-Roses (France)

Rudolf Ernst studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna under history painters August Eisenmenger and Anselm Feuerbach. He travelled to Italy and, in the 1880s, to Spain and Morocco. In 1890 he also visited Constantinople. Along with Ludwig Deutsch, he settled in Paris in 1876. From the 1880s, he focused on Orientalist subjects inspired by souvenirs accumulated during his travels. The scenes depicted in his paintings were often imagined and most of them were executed in his studio in Paris.
