1959 Cadillac Series 62 Deville Convertible

1959 Cadillac Series 62 Deville Convertible - Autoveicoli d'epoca

THE American style icon with 53,733 original miles!

The 1959 Cadillac set the standard for looks, performance and comfort. It marked the beginning of the tailfin era. Countless details were based on the new jet drive. There has never been more pageantry and playful details in a car. The 59 Cadillac became the representative in advertising and show business. And not just because of the design; the Cadillac was a pioneer in luxury and technology. Other manufacturers didn't offer electrically adjustable seats, windows and roof for decades to come.

Mr. Jeff Goodwin bought this Cadillac 62 convertible in 1988. At the time, it had 38,000 original miles. The extremely low mileage for a 30-year-old car is explained by the somewhat odd use of this Cadillac. After tailfins became unfashionable, the car served as a pace care for horse races, driving ahead of the horses and their riders in the starting round. So, it only did a few kilometres per race weekend. This also explains the extremely healthy body structure. At some point the Caddy was put aside and discovered by Mr. Goodwin. He rebuilt the car over three years of finding parts and restoration work. An article in "Car Collector Magazine" testifies to this story. The consignor bought the car directly from Mr. Goodwin in 1998. There are plenty of documents for the car since then. The motor was rebuilt in 2013 for over €6,000. A new hood was added and the gears and brakes were overhauled. Original brochures and documents round out the offer. 25 years after the restoration, there are still only 15,000 more miles on the clock. The car is exciting from every angle, evidence of the great starting condition and the quality of the work carried out. The technology has been expertly maintained. Up to six people can relive a crazy decade in this car, a time when the only direction seemed to be up and everyone had unlimited trust in and hope for the future.
