1972 Porsche 911 S 2.4 liter “Oil valve“ (Ölklappe) model

1972 Porsche 911 S 2.4 liter “Oil valve“ (Ölklappe) model - Autoveicoli d'epoca

Austrian delivery, 16 years at the same consignor!
Delivered in the special color Gulf Orange, Matching Numbers!
One of only 1,750 oil traps "S" Coupes!

For the model 1972, Porsche expanded on the displacement and power of its original 911 series again. Once again T, E and S, the last letter is the one that makes the difference, because there are 911s and then there is S, and that was it until the end of 1971 – 190 hp from 2.4 liters of displacement! And only in this single year were those same oil filler doors, or the oil valve, located in the back right fender. This sometimes caused confusion at the gas station and at Porsche repair shops, which is why this idea was scrapped after one year and it moved to a location where it was difficult to fill gas – in the engine compartment.

This 911 S coupe was registered as a demonstration vehicle at the Porsche site in Wiener Neustadt on October 31, 1972. The 911 was delivered in the rare color of gulf orange, combined with black pearl cord and with extra feature of Koni shocks in the front and rear, as well as lap and diagonal seatbelts. Already in 1990, the consignor acquired the Porsche from Austria’s current Finance Minister. Even back then the Porsche looked the way it does today, with its RS bumper and turbo wings, a fate from the 80s that it shares with many of its peers. The essential components however have remained as originals, a fact which is confirmed by its birth certificate. After years of standing still, the consignor wanted to help his Porsche get back on the road by handing this project over to a new owner. The invoices serve as evidence that the engine has already been partly overhauled, with new bearings, slide rails, Mahle pistons, overhauled cylinder heads with new valve guides and valve seats, etc. Even though there is still some work to be done, who, if not this Austrian super 11 has earned the chance to shine again in all its splendor of the good ole’ days?
