1959 Vespa Augsburg 150 GS/3 Typ 212 (ohne Limit / without reserve)

1959 Vespa Augsburg 150 GS/3 Typ 212 (ohne Limit / without reserve) - Solo Vespa. Quasi.

In late 1957 Piaggio had set up Vespa Augsburg GmbH, which brought an end to concession agreement with Messerschmitt. While the GS/3 was largely the same as its Italian sister, many exterior parts still came from German suppliers. Also the build quality of Augsburg made Vespas had a better reputation than south of the Alps. The Typ 212 as the final guise of the German 150 GS already featured Rally wheels and from 1961 on turn signals on the side panels.

At times the number of GS models built by Piaggio within one year in Italy exceeded the total production in Augsburg. In Germany the GS was rather expensive and therefore quite rare. Thanks to the many little differences and charming details the German GS models have become highly appreciated among a dedicated group of followers.

This Augsburg made 150 GS/3 needs some care to bring it back to its former glory. What really matters is that most of the uber-rare German parts are there. All the rest needs is some love and dedication.

Chassis: VD2TS*16855*, Motor: VS5M*0066516*, Deutscher Fahrzeugbrief & österreichische Zollpapiere 1968 (German Fahrzeugbrief & Austrian custom papers 1968)
