1977 Renault Alpine 310 V6

1977 Renault Alpine 310 V6 - Autoveicoli d'epoca

Fourth-hand Austrian vehicle with 59,129 km on the original engine

Renault presented the Alpine 310 at the 1971 Geneva Motor Show. Again equipped with a rear engine and lightweight, fibreglass body, it was bigger and more luxurious than the familiar 110, which it was designed to complement. Fitted in 1976, a V6 aluminium engine with 2.7 litres ensured smooth propulsion up to a top speed of 222 km/h, making the A 310 V6 the fastest series vehicle from France.

This Alpine was registered as a showroom vehicle on 28 November 1977. A friend of the original owner purchased the V6 in 1978. Still a golden brown, luxury coupé, it was intended as a gift for his wife. But she did not take to her new wheels. Initially the A 310 was used for the occasional excursion, but was left in the garage during the 1990s and deregistered in 1998. The previous owner, himself a former Renault employee, purchase the Alpine from a friend in 2010. The paint job and interior had suffered significantly. He had the car repainted in a different, albeit original, Alpine colour. The seats, door panelling and roof on the interior were upholstered in black leather, and the original Philips radio modernised. The aluminium rims were restored, and the Michelin tyres replaced. Finally, the mechanical parts were serviced. Sleeping Beauty has now come back to life. The perennial antithesis to the 911, the Alpine still turns heads with its particularly French form, feeling and flair. A sports car from France with the perfect Austrian history.
