1975 Volkswagen 1303 Convertible

1975 Volkswagen 1303 Convertible - Autoveicoli d'epoca

First-hand Beetle convertible with just 102,000 km on the original engine
Documented from the first day!

In its Type 15, Karmann released a four-seater convertible in September 1949. Officially recognised by VW as a family member, the convertible benefited from all model evolutions released for the sedan. The Osnabrück company continued to build the convertible, even when Beetle production ended in Germany in 1978. Thursday, 10 January 1980, when production came to an end, was truly a black day for Beetle enthusiasts. Not even demonstrations helped. In consequence, the last of the new series changed hands way above the cost of the new vehicle.

And with the sword of Damocles hanging over the Beetle in the form of the Golf around the mid-1970s, a Viennese couple decided to replace their slightly older Beetle convertible with a new 1303 model before it was too late. They went the full hog with the features: metallic paint in diamond silver, the cold weather package, a large, closable fabric roof with button fasteners, five sports rims and radial tyres for the tidy sum of over 102.000 Schilling, an almost incredible amount for a phased-out model! Besides the original bill of sale, the vehicle also comes with all other documents, including a service booklet with almost all the stamps that impressively answers any questions about maintenance and upkeep. It also shows that excursions with the Beetle became increasingly rare over the years, which is also a reason why this unrestored, exceptional convertible is now available to delight a new owner!
