Balthasar Wigand mainly painted vedutas in miniatures in gouache and watercolour, which he furnished with particularly small but well characterised figures. From the 1830s onwards he began to occupy himself with historic scenes. He ran a workshop, which was specialised in views of Vienna and ist surrounding.
