1958 Wurlitzer 2200 "Console"
For 1958 Wurlitzer bid farewell to the design of their Centennial models. The new 2200 and 2204 went by the name of „Console“ and sported an all new design. Also new was their sound system, which guaranteed a much better sound experience. Like their predecessors the two models were mostly different in their selections, the 2200 offering 200 and the 2204 offering 104.
Wurlitzer sold 4,700 of the 2200 model and around 7,000 of the 2204. The top-of-the-line 2200 faced some inhouse competition by the cheaper 2250, which also offered a selection of 200, but even more so Wurlitzer had been losing ground to Seeburg.
This example has been converted to 220V in the past and still presents itself in very good, cosmetically largely unrestored condition. However, we have not tried if it works and therefore it will be strictly sold as is, without any guarantee for functionality.
