A pair of bronze appliqués,
France 18th century, bronze frames, each with 2 candles, partly fire-gilt bronze casts with lavish ramification and depiction of a wild boar and a stag, height c. 52 cm.
Hans Ottomeyer’s book “Vergoldete Bronzen” contains a reproduction of a similar wall appliqué in silvered bronze with stag motif, and attributes it to the bronze founder-chaser Jean-Joseph de Saint Germain (c. 1750).
