This hitherto unidentified painter can be regarded as a follower of Joachim Patinir. The landscape background in the present painting is reminiscent of Patinir’s ‘cosmic’ landscapes. From an elevated view point, the viewer’s eyes roam as far as the horizon, where all colours merge into a blue shade.
