Opel presented a startling concept car at the IAA in 1965. The company continued to develop the concept, introducing it to the market in September of 1968. A sleek shape earned amazement and enabled sporty driving performance with the tame series engines. "Only flying is more beautiful" promised the advertising – and at the time, both were only a dream for most people. The moderate body quality drastically reduced stocks; nowadays, an example in good condition is a question of luck and money!

This Open GT 1900 A-L from 1971 was brought into Austria by a Carinthian bank employee from Germany. In 1988, it ended up in the hands of the most recent owner in Klagenfurt. The GT remained registered to that owner up until 2015. At that point, the only thing the little sports car was lacking was a makeover. Over many hours of work, the mechanics were overhauled, the body restored and newly painted. Thankfully, no tuning or rust work was necessary on this one. This sleek GT is in more than decent – and most importantly, original – condition. The car has passed yearly inspections with flying colours, even!
