1985 VW 1200 "Pewter Grey" (no reserve)

All-round attractive special model with folding top

In 1972, VW introduced their first special model, the anniversary beetle, to the marketplace in order to mark the occasion of 20,000,000 beetles. Countless more were to follow. Usually, people commemorate a special occasion like being "world champion", or maybe add a fresh touch to the product line with a special colour or equipment. The last special edition of the 1200 was the "Anniversary Special Edition Pewter Grey".

This 1200 is one of 3,150 special pewter grey models that were built. These Beetles were made to be particularly chic. The grey metallic paint, sport wheels and tinted windows made the car appear especially special outside; the grey interior in a friendly fabric and a four-spoke steering wheel underscored this status. The export of Mexican cars to Europe ended officially with the pewter grey Beetle. This VW was delivered to a dealer in Gmunden on the Traunsee in 1987. It is likely this dealer equipped the car with a Britax folding roof. Today the car remains in more than respectable condition. The mileage is definitely original. The vehicle is definitely appealing and the large folding roof lends it extra charm!
