1961 Porsche 356 1600 BT5
In September 1959 Porsche introduced the 356 B, incorporating many mechanical improvements in an updated body. In August 1961 the body was facelifted again, resulting in the B T6 which anticipated its predecessor. The BT 5 still had the older looks with a smoother hood and a smaller rear window, which makes it more desirable among collectors.
This Reutter-bodied 356 originally comes from California, USA. It has been restored many years ago, receiving a 1600 C engine, tuned to Super 90 specifications with Weber twin-carbs. Also the interior, including carpets, headliner and leather seats had been renewed. The paintwork shows some minor spots where green paint coat and primer don’t seem to along too well, however, its very charming overall appearance makes this 356 very sympathetic. It has just passed the German historical inspection and as a B T5 it combines the older appearance with the performance of the last 356 models!
