1969 Mercedes-Benz 280 SL
German delivery, 3rd owner since 1974
Hardtop with sunroof, matching numbers, unrestored!
Referred to at the Mercedes factory as W113, the 230 SL first came out in March 1963. Alluding to its hardtop roofline the car soon became known as the “Pagoda”. The 280 SL which was introduced in December 1967 soon became highly popular owing to its exceptional properties as an all-rounder. It is for a reason that the Pagoda is still one of the most popular and sought after open-air classics!
The present 280 SL was first registered on 14 March 1968. The present SL not only features automatic transmission and timeless metallic silver paint but a very well preserved dark blue soft-top as well as one of only a few hard-tops with Golde sun roof! Registered to its last owner in 1974, the Mercedes came with him to Austria in 1978. It appears that the paint was refreshed in some places but never restored. Though the Pagoda will probably require servicing it might want to keep its charming patina - after all there are plenty of shiny cars. This 280 SL knows how to show off its authenticity to its best advantage!
