Together with Olga Wisinger-Florian, Tina Blau and Broncia Koller, Marie Egner was one of the most important female artists during the period around 1900. Studying under Jungheim in Düsseldorf, and Schindler in Vienna and Plankenberg, the artist’s works adopt the style of Austrian Mood Impressionism. Her many study trips through Europe, especially Italy, provided her with the motifs for her works. She became a member of the Austrian Association of Women Artists (VBKÖ) after WWI.
