The present drawing is related to the painting „Christ falling under the cross the second time“ by Josef Ritter von Friedrich, which is the VII. station of the chapels along the way of the cross on mount Laurenzi in Prague which were executed in 1836. The study could be a preliminary drawing for one of the engravings following the paintings of the way of the cross. The dimensions of the prints are 49 x 32 cm, the plate measures 34,5 x 25,3 cm. The drawing is to a large extant identical with the depiction of the engraving. While in the drawing there was laid more emphasis on the outlines, in the engraving the figures were treated through hatchings in a more modelling manner.
