The present drawing is a copy after an etching by Carle Vanloo from a series of several „academies“ (academic nude studies), which were presented at the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1743. The drawing presumably was executed by a pupil or a follower and the etching of Vanloo may have served as the model image.
