Dominik/Döme Skutezky, is primarily known for his genre paintings with anecdotal contents. After studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, Skutezky spent several years studying in Venice. The Venetian motifs and landscape painting he learnt there were to characterise his work right into the 1880s. He returned to Banská Bystrica in 1885 although making repeated trips to Italy after that date.
