1967 Jaguar E-Type 4.2-litre 2+2 Series 1.5

1967 Jaguar E-Type 4.2-litre 2+2 Series 1.5 - Classic Cars

Austrian delivery, well-documented, matching numbers! In 1966, Jaguar added the 2+2 to the OTS and FHC of its current Series 1. Both Coupé versions were produced until 1973 and after that only the 2+2. In 1967, the mysterious Series 1.5 appeared. This includes cars that were built within Series 1 but featured some Series 2 equipment. There is still heated debate as to which VIN number marked the start of this Series. Series 2 production also included a variety of versions. Some cars were only fitted with the open headlights and others with the redesigned dashboard. According to Jaguar, Series 1.5 never officially existed. This 2+2 Coupé produced in May/June 1967, whose external appearance is exactly the same as the original, graceful Series 1 design, also falls into this Series. But this car's most remarkable feature is the continuous documentation of its history: in 1967, the Jaguar was delivered to Austria as a new car. Its single vehicle type approval notes a few changes in ownership over the following years, until the E-Type was acquired by a passionate E-Type enthusiast in late 1983. He lovingly researched, restored and drove the E-Type. He contacted the previous owners and traced its history back to the production line. He also documented every journey he made, including the mileage, along with any service work, and wrote some amusing Club magazine articles about his experience and extensive travels with the E-Type. Its restoration from 1978 to 1990 is also meticulously recorded and illustrated. Its bodywork proved to be extremely healthy, thanks to almost exclusive summer use. Its original engine was rebuilt by the expert; its leather interior was retained and still lends the E-Type a unique charm. The owner gained a wealth of experience from this reconstruction. The investment couldn't be financially justified, but the perfectionist had other priorities. Fortunately, his wife supported his dedication, as the E-Type was part of the family. In 2011, for health reasons, a worthy new owner was sought, namely the current Consignor.
