1972 Triumph Spitfire Mk IV (without limit)

1972 Triumph Spitfire Mk IV (without limit) - Classic Cars

Austrian roll-out, only 4 owners to date!

In December 1970, Giovanni Michelotti breathed some brand-new life into his Spitfire again. The front was flatter, while the stern featured the trademark swallowtail for the Triumph. The modernised body was joined by a newly designed interior with a well-equipped dashboard. The 1300 engine was mechanically overhauled and combined with a fully synchronous gearbox. Modern times were finally catching up with the Triumph brand.

The Spitfire was put on the road in Mistelbach in 1972 and until now has only had four owners. In addition to the softtop and the cover, the small roadster also features a sleek hardtop. The sports mirror was a necessity for the sport-minded driver, while the spoked wheels were nothing less than a must for this British classic. Black synthetic leather, an array of instruments, and a sporty steering wheel. The sports car was complete. Only recently the Triumph was repainted in the original saffron yellow that typified the wild seventies. In this combination, the little racer is as brash as it was 40 years ago. Because the cars were light and manoeuvrable, they could also make good speed despite having a small engine. The 1300 is designed to be short-stroke, nippy and good for reaching speeds of up to over 100 mph. Somehow the Spitfire embodies both youth and foreign holidays, or in other words, the brazen indifference that we all exude at the primes of our lives. In a bright yellow Spitfire on the Côte d'Azur, that is what can make you feel younger more than any extended wellness vacation can.
