Provenance: H. von Blücher Collection. Comp. Tischbein’s painting Jupiter Seducing Callisto from c. 1756 in the Kassel Picture Gallery. The present picture is a typical work of the “Kasseler Tischbein” because of its French elegance. The artist created numerous mythological paintings for Landgrave William VIII of Hesse-Kassel.
