1979 Honda CBX *
Project manager Shoichiro Irimajiri put his vast experience in the construction of racing engines rigorously into practice to build an air-cooled in-line six cylinder unit with just a handful of staff. The punchy engine came with an array of technical delights. For instance, the cylinder head on the Honda CBX 1000 accommodated an incredible 24 valves whose intake and discharge movements were transmitted by two camshafts and tappets. This miracle of engineering was powered by six Keihin constant pressure carburettors.
This CBX was delivered to Germany and then exported to Austria in 2001. With just 27,000 km on the clock, it remains in pristine original condition!
