We are grateful to Marijke de Kinkelder of the RKD, The Hague, for confirming the authorship of Pieter Mulier on the basis of a professional photograph.
The works by the Haarlem-based marine painter are closely related to those of Simon de Vlieger and Jan Porcellis. Typical motifs of his are fishing boats in a stiff breeze on the open sea.
