From 1727 on, Peter Jacob Horemans was court painter to the Bavarian Prince Elector Charles Albrecht (the future Emperor Charles VII) in Munich. He executed genre scenes, portraits, and still lifes. He was first and foremost appreciated for his small depictions of court ceremonies portraying the personalities attending. At the picture gallery in the New Castle of Bayreuth, an entire cabinet is devoted to Horemans’s charming works.
