The composition of this painting is closely linked to the central panel for an altarpiece by Maulbertsch in the parish church of Fischamend, Lower Austria, and to the main fresco of an altarpiece in the Church of St. Augustine in Korneuburg, Lower Austria (see K. Garas, Franz Anton Maulbertsch, Graz 1960, p. 214, no. 190; p. 220, no. 267, ills. 166 and 218).
