Ludwig Vollmar
Son of an altar builder and painter, he studied from 1858 to 1865 at the Academy in Munich. His teachers were Georg Hiltensperger, Hermann Anschütz, Philipp Foltz, as well as Arthur von Ramberg until 1870. The genre painter’s preferred subjects were everyday rural scenes in the Black Forest and Upper Bavaria. (cf. Bruckmanns Lexikon der Münchner Kunst, Münchner Maler im 19. Jahrhundert, Vol. 4, p. 300)
