Alberto Pasini
studied at the Accademia di Parma where he initially trained as an engraver and lithographer. Once his studies were completed he left Turin for Paris. In 1855 he took part in a diplomatic embassy to Persia, his travels taking him to Egypt, the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf. Impressed by these foreign countries, their architecture and people, he produced numerous paintings with oriental scenes. His romantic view of the orient is expressed in the lively colouring of his miniature format representations.
