Cesar Pattein

first studied under Guillaume Alphonse Cabasson before entering the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Lille in 1878, in Alphonse Colas’ studio. He exhibited in the Paris Salon from 1882. Pattein left his teacher in order to work in Jules Breton’s studio, an artist who would have a significant influence on his creative work. Pattein’s depictions focused on country life and the rural population, showing their main protagonists - the children - in idyllic and happy scenes.
