Certificate: Prof. Egidio Martini, Venice. The architectural painter Giuseppe Borsato belonged to a group of artists, such as Damin, Bevilacqua, Bagnara, Santi, etc., who were active in Venice during the first decade of the nineteenth century. His vedute, such as The Molo San Marco in the Snow (1832, Pinacoteca Tosio Martinengo, Brescia), reveal his dependence on Canaletto. Borsato succeeded in translating the light and atmosphere of eighteenth-century painting into his own time.
