Cornelis de Vos - Old Master Paintings

(Hulst 1584/85-1651 Antwerp)
Saint Paul,
oil on canvas, 52 x 41 cm, framed

Provenance:
Private collection, Great Britain

This previously unpublished Saint Paul is characteristic for the work of Cornelis de Vos. The painter used the same model for other known works, for example in The crowning of a hero (Herzog Anton Ulrich Museum, Braunschweig). We are grateful to Katlijne Van der Stighelen for confirming the attribution of the present painting to Cornelis de Vos on the basis of a photograph.
