We are grateful to Hans Vlieghe, who sees similarities between this portrait and Anthony van Dyck’s portraits from the artist’s second Antwerp Period (1627–32).
Anna van Noordt was the daughter of Adam van Noordt, who trained both Peter Paul Rubens (who van Dyck assisted) and Jacob Jordaens (who married Anna’s sister, Catharina.)
