The attribution of the present painting to Gerard de la Vallée has been confirmed by Ursula Härting (written communication, July 2018).
Härting compares this landscape with Diana’s Hunt in the Musées Royaux des Beaux-Arts in Brussels. Both paintings can be dated to the late 1620s or early 1630s. They were inspired by artists such as Jan Brueghel I, Abraham Govaerts, Jasper van der Lanen, and Alexander Keirincx.
