Lot No. 308 V

1964 Volkswagen 1200 Luxury

1964 Volkswagen 1200 Luxury - Classic Cars

Just two owners since 1985, restored 25 years ago!

The innovative Rover is named Car of the Year in 1964, and Matra builds the first series-produced mid-engine sports car. Volkswagen continues to manufacture the Beetle in just two configurations, although they are updated annually. The heating controls are at least modified around the turn of the year. But year for year, VW still continues to build more vehicles. An idea and a concept have taken root.

This VW Beetle was registered to its first owner in the 4th District of Vienna in June 1964. The consignor purchased the slightly aged sedan back in 1985, submitting it to a specialist, who dismantled and then reassembled it completely. An extensive photo album meticulously documents each of the individual stages of work. The interior features were evidently preserved, and the engine is original as well. Minutely detailed records trace the continued life of the Beetle. The VW was no longer put to ‘work’, which is plainly visible in its condition. The original seat covers are still pristine, and there is nothing else to fault about this testimony to Wolfsburg production. It was recently submitted for major servicing, including refurbishment of the carburettor and installation of a new tank. A magnificent Beetle in the prime of its life, ready for plenty more excursions that will certainly delight its new owner!
