1971 Opel Kadett B 1.1 (no reserve)

1971 Opel Kadett B 1.1 (no reserve) - Classic Cars

Just one owner with 55,000 km on the original engine!

Opel presented the Kadett B as the successor to the Kadett A – which it built for just three years – in September 1965. Like its predecessor, it had a longitudinal front engine with back wheel drive. Over 2.7 million Kadetts left the Bochum factory between 1965 and 1973. The Kadett is considered one of the most successful Opel models, and at the time put some pressure on the bestseller from Wolfsburg. The variety it offered was exceptional: two hatchback and two fastback models, two coupés and a pair of caravans could be combined with engines offering 1.1 to 1.9 litre displacement and horse powers ranging from 45 to 90. A 106 hp model was also available on request.

This Opel Kadett, a three-door standard sedan in the special colour ‘lime green’, was a Christmas gift by a winemaker from near Gumpoldskirchen to his wife. The extraordinarily beautiful Kadett was kept consistently in the garage and only used for short trips in good weather. A licensed Opel garage in the vicinity conducted the necessary servicing and maintenance – documenting everything, even the final milage on the speedometer, in the service booklet. The owner deregistered her beloved car with a heavy heart in 2005 for reasons of age, but it remained at its designated spot in the garage. Her daughter held on to the vehicle for several years as a sentimental keepsake. The Kadett enjoyed an extensive service just recently. Even the original vehicle document kit with service booklet and welcome letter from GM are preserved. A testimony to tradition and a little piece of happiness from bygone ages and the modern world!
